WORLD Championship Majorettes Sport & WORLD Cup 2023
This year, for the first time in Ostrava, in a modern, spacious sports hall, the jubilee, tenth year of the World Championship Majorettes Sport and the fourth year of the World Majorettes Cup took place.
The championship was held with the financial support of the Moravian-Silesian Region and the municipality of Ostrava, under the auspices of the Deputy Governor of the Moravian-Silesian Region, Mr. Ing. Jaroslav Kania. The competition was officially declared as opened personally by the mayor, Mgr. Jan Dohnal. Many thanks.
It was a new challenge for the organizers to organize such a demanding and wonderful sport event in the new environment of the athletics hall, but they dealt with it with honor and everything took place according to the planned schedule, for which they deserve a big thank.
The World Championship was held on August 23. – 25/08/2023 and the World Cup was on Saturday, 26/08/2023. Every sports day was broadcast live online. Czech Television made a recording of each day, the cut will then be broadcast repeatedly on CT Sport.
Tourist escorts and other members of the public supported all competition days with their participation. Hundreds of majorettes were seen daily in various disciplines divided into age categories, from the youngest cadets to older seniors without upper age limits. Majorettes presented themselves in choreographies with different types of equipment, the most traditional being a baton, two batons, then pom-poms, flags, combinations of equipment, but also the newly included discipline of mace (military equipment). The appropriate placement of the medal ceremonies contributed to the smooth running of the competition days, which were held in three blocks, each time after the end of the complete part of the competition. The contestants and their escorts had the opportunity to enjoy the sunny summer weather outside the hall. The entertainment for the participants on warm summer days was an incredibly large pile of snow from the winter stadium, right next to the hall.
I would like to thank all competitors, instructors, choreographers, all participating clubs and also the international jury, which evaluated more than 700 starting numbers, led by the main judge, Mrs. Monika Bergerová. The demanding training of the evaluators paid off, no protest was filed. For the preparation and direction of the entire competition, I would like to thank the vice-president of the IFMS, Mrs. Marta Pavelková, the management of the hall for their helpfuless and the entire implementation team for the continuous and smooth course of all competition days and the entire tenth World Championship and the fourth World Cup.
Ing.Josef Doležel,
President IFMS
