European Majorette Championship with Czech Television.
For the first time in its long history, the European Majorette Championship was held with Czech Television.
On June 22-23, the sports hall in the Croatian town of Novigrad was filled with majorettes from European countries. This is the 16th year of this prestigious competition, but this time it was held with Czech Television. For the international organization IFMS, this is another proof that the federation is the world leader in organizing international competitions in majorette sport. And that is mainly thanks to the solid foundation, effort, longest tradition, enthusiasm and love of all members for this sport.
Representatives of the town of Novigrad, representatives of the Sports Hall and members of the International Federation of Majorette Sports (IFMS) were present at the opening of the championship. The exhibition performance of the Elite Ostrava majorette team kicked off the entire European Championship. For two whole days, the contestants performed difficult acrobatic and gymnastic elements, beautiful choreographies and provided a colorful spectacle for the audience in the hall. All this with a baton, pom-pom and flag.
The whole competition was carried out in a calm spirit, and despite the tropical heat that prevailed in Croatia, there were no serious health problems. The hall was fully air-conditioned, the changing rooms were equipped with showers, so the experienced contestants were not surprised by the tropical heat. Even so, a few health complications occurred, but the erudite chiefs immediately provided suitable conditions for their charges, which ensured further trouble-free and successful starts for their competitors.
The mayor of the town, Mr. Anteo Milos, adds to the entire European Majorette Championship: “As a town, we are honored that the federation has chosen the city of Novigrad to host the championship, and I am glad that our town can host this championship for the second year. My opinion, as an athlete, is that the sport of majorette is excellent for young people and I hope that it will develop in our country, thanks to this promotion, on the same level as in your country, in the Czech Republic.”
The Friday parade through the center of Novigrad with the local brass band created a joyful and relaxed atmosphere. It was a perfect end to the 16th year of the European Championship, mainly thanks to the great cooperation with the director of the tourist center of the town of Novigrad, Mrs. Vesna Ferenac: “For us, this championship is an significant and important event, our town comes alive immediately, suddenly a lot of guests appear here, young talented athletes from all over Europe. For us, this event is also important from the point of view of tourism, some majorettes may return next time with their entire families.”
Thanks to the town of Novigrad for providing the perfect facilities and for the bonus for spectators in the form of free entry to the championship. Also to the referees, coaches, competitors, parents and organizers. For the coaches, this competition was once again proof that their work with the majorettes is beneficial despite its demands. A lesson for chiefs could be an appeal to complete the professional qualification of a basic first aid course and a basic, correct, healthy diet. Help in an unusual environment and from general fatigue not only from travel, but also from experiences at sea could also be sought from parents, among whom there are willing, educated experts on this issue. Only the chief knows his competitor best, so he knows what her possibilities are and possibly what health ailments she brings to the competition. Just like parents.

From sunny Novigrad, we return to the Czech Republic, directly to Ostrava for the World Championship Majorette Sport, held on August 23-26. 2023 and again in the presence of Czech Television.
Poprvé v dlouholeté historii se Mistrovství Evropy v mažoretkovém sportu konalo s Českou televizí.
Ve dnech 22. až 23. června se sportovní hala v chorvatském městě Novigrad zaplnila mažoretkami z Evropských zemí. Již 16. ročník této prestižní soutěže se ale tentokrát konal s Českou televizí. Pro mezinárodní organizaci IFMS, je to další důkaz, že federace je světovou špičkou v pořádání mezinárodních soutěží v mažoretkovém sportu. A to hlavně díky pevnému základu, snaze, nejdelší tradici, nadšení a lásce všech členů k tomuto sportovnímu odvětví.
Na zahájení šampionátu byli přítomni zástupci města Novigrad, zástupci Sportovní dvorany a členové mezinárodní federace mažoretkové sportu (IFMS). Exhibiční vystoupení mažoretkového týmu Elité Ostrava odstartovala celý Evropský šampionát. Soutěžící po celé dva dny předvedly obtížné akrobatické, gymnastické prvky, krásné choreografie a divákům v hale zajistily pestrou podívanou. To vše s náčiním baton, pom-pom a flag.
Celá soutěž se nesla v poklidném duchu, a i přes tropické vedro, které v Chorvatsku panovalo, se obešla bez vážnějších zdravotních problémů. Hala byla plně klimatizovaná, šatny vybaveny sprchami, a tak zkušené závodnice tropická horka nepřekvapila. I přesto se pár zdravotních komplikací vyskytlo, ale erudované vedoucí svým svěřenkyním ihned poskytly vhodné podmínky, kterými zajistily další bezproblémové a úspěšné starty svých soutěžících.
Starosta města, pan Anteo Milos, k celému Evropskému mistrovství v mažoretkovém sportu dodává: „Jsme jako město poctěni, že si federace vybrala pro pořádání šampionátu právě město Novigrad a jsem rád, že naše městečko může tento šampionát hostit, a to už druhým rokem. Můj názor, jako sportovce je ten, že mažoretkový sport je pro mladé lidi výborný a doufám, že se u nás bude rozvíjet, a to díky této propagaci, na stejné úrovni jako u vás, v České republice.“
Radostnou a pohodovou atmosféru navodil páteční průvod centrem města Novigrad s místní dechovou kapelou. Byla to perfektní tečka za 16. ročníkem Evropského šampionátu, a to hlavně díky skvělé spolupráci s ředitelkou turistického centra města Novigrad, paní Vesnou Ferenac: „Pro nás je tento šampionát významnou a důležitou akcí, naše městečko hned ožije, najednou se tady objeví spousta hostů, mladých talentovaných sportovců z celé Evropy. Pro nás je tato akce důležitá i z hlediska cestovního ruchu, některé mažoretky se mohou příště vrátit s celými rodinami.“
Poděkování patří městu Novigrad za poskytnutí perfektního zázemí a za bonus pro diváky ve formě volného vstupu na šampionát. Dále rozhodčím, trenérům, závodnicím, rodičům a organizátorům. Pro trenéry toto klání bylo opět důkazem toho, že jejich práce s mažoretkami je i přes svou náročnost přínosná. Poučením by pak pro vedoucí mohl být apel na doplnění si odborné kvalifikace základního kurzu první pomoci a ze základu správné, zdravé výživy. Pomoc v nezvyklém prostředí a z celkové únavy nejenom z cestování, ale i ze zážitků od moře by mohli vedoucí hledat i u rodičů, mezi nimiž se najdou ochotní, vzdělaní odborníci na tuto problematiku. Jen vedoucí zná nejlépe svoji závodnici, a tak ví, jaké jsou její možnosti a případně jaké zdravotní indispozice si na soutěž přiváží. Stejně tak, jako rodiče.
Poděkování patří i panu fotografovi Liboru Kaštovskému za nádherné zachycení okamžiků. Po celé dva dny cvakala spoušť jeho fotoaparátu stejně svižně, jako se střídaly závodnice na startu. Tyto neopakovatelné vzpomínky si mohl kdokoliv zakoupit přímo na místě v hale.
