Sun, dance and the European top in majorette sport in Novigrad, Croatia
The European Majorette Sport Championship was held this year in the picturesque seaside resort of Novigrad-Cittanova, which welcomed the competitors not only with beautiful summer weather, but above all with the friendliness and support of the local organizers. The mayor of the city, Mr. Anteo Milos, who provided the entire championship with his patronage, played a significant role in the smooth running of the event, as did the city Tourist Office, headed by Mrs. Director Vesna Ferenac, in cooperation with the local sports hall, headed by Mr. Director Marino Reinić.
During the three competition days, competitors from all over Europe fought not only for valuable medals, but also for advancement to the World Championship. Those competitive formations that had won direct advancement from the national championships had an advantage, however, a place on the podium remained a prestigious goal for everyone.
The originally planned program was that Thursday would be reserved only for arrivals, installation of the competition area and spatial tests. However, the interest from the nominated teams significantly exceeded expectations. Not everyone could participate due to a clash with the end of the school year or for financial reasons, but an effort was made to allow the start to as many interested parties as possible. The organizers promptly responded by expanding the competition program, so the competition was in full swing on Thursday. All participants arrived on time and the installation of the competition area and the decoration of the hall went without complications.
The atmosphere of the entire championship was festive, friendly and at the same time full of competitive tension. Novigrad thus became the European center of majorette sport for several days and provided all participants with an unforgettable experience.
