Ostrava Belonged to the World of Majorette Sport
The XIII World Championship Has Come to an End
During the final days of August, Ostrava became the centre of international majorette sport. Alongside the VII World Majorette Cup, held on 26 August and dedicated to disciplines not yet included in the World Championship programme – an event we have already covered separately – the highlight of this year’s international season took place: the XIII World Championship in Majorette Sport.
The Championship was held under the authority of the International Federation Majorettes Sport (IFMS), with the Czech Federation of Majorette Sport acting as the local organiser.
Performances that move majorette sport forward
This year’s World Championship can undoubtedly be considered one of the most successful championships, both in terms of sporting performance and organisation.
The competition floor witnessed outstanding performances reflecting many months of preparation, training and dedication by the competitors and their coaches. The increasing technical difficulty of the routines, their choreography, apparatus work and overall presentation once again demonstrated how dynamically majorette sport continues to develop.
However, the competition was about much more than points and final rankings. Emotions filled the entire arena. Joy, tension, anticipation, tears of happiness, embraces after completed routines and the tremendous support of teammates and fans created the unique atmosphere that belongs to a World Championship.
These are the moments that remind us that behind every result lies much more than just a few minutes on the competition floor.
Organisation that allowed the sport to take centre stage
The organisation of the individual competition days also contributed significantly to the smooth running of the Championship.
The presentation of results after the morning and afternoon programmes proved to be a very effective solution. Competitors did not have to wait until late in the evening after completing their events and were able either to travel home or to use the time to rest and prepare for their next performance.
The award ceremonies ran smoothly and without unnecessary delays. Their most solemn and memorable moments came with the national anthems honouring the winners and their countries. When the arena falls silent and the national anthem is played for a new World Champion, it is undoubtedly one of the most powerful moments of the entire Championship.
Following the Championship from around the world
The action in Ostrava was not limited to those present in the arena. A live online broadcast was available throughout all four competition days, allowing supporters of majorette sport to follow the performances from home and from abroad.
The World Championship also attracted the attention of Czech media, including Czech Radio and Czech Television. Such media interest represents another important step towards increasing public awareness and recognition of majorette sport.
Thank you to everyone who made the Championship possible
An international competition of this scale is not created in just a few days. Behind its successful organisation lie months of preparation and the work of many people.
Our thanks therefore go to all competitors, coaches, judges, members of the organising team, volunteers, technical and production staff, presenters, partners, guests, media representatives and fans. We also thank everyone whose work may not have been visible during the competition itself, but without whom an event of this scale could not have taken place.
Special thanks also go to all the international delegations that came to Ostrava to represent their countries and together created a truly global atmosphere.
The XIII World Championship has come to an end. The results have been recorded and the medals awarded, but the memories remain.
We will remember the outstanding sporting performances, the packed arena, the anticipation before each start, the joy after the final note of music, the podium celebrations and the national anthems that crowned the journeys of the most successful competitors.
These are precisely the moments that make it worthwhile to meet again.
Thank you, Ostrava. Thank you to everyone who was part of the XIII World Championship in Majorette Sport.
Come back to Ostrava with us
Vraťte se s námi do Ostravy
Ostrava patřila světovým mažoretkám.
XIII. mistrovství světa je za námi
Poslední srpnové dny patřila Ostrava mažoretkovému sportu. Vedle VII.
Samotné vyhlašování probíhalo plynule a bez zbytečných prodlev.
Poděkování proto patří závodnicím a závodníkům, trenérům, rozhodčím, členům organizačního týmu, dobrovolníkům, technickému a produkčnímu zajištění, moderátorům, partnerům, hostům, médiím i fanouškům.
