II. Asian Championship in Bishkek, capital city of Kyrgyzstan

After last year’s majorette competition premiere, the Asian Federation of Majorettes Sport and Baton Twirling held the competition for the second time in Bishkek. The competition took place in a modern sports hall during the days of the “Dance Olympics”. The Olympics included various kinds of dances up to jumping rope. For majorettes sport was reserved Friday, June 7, the first of three days. From the first year, majorettes sport has gone a few steps ahead, even though it is still looking for a way to increase both the competitors’ base in terms of quantity and quality. Compared to the first year, the performance shift was seen, thanks to Mrs. Oksana Polianichko, president of the Federation. The president works tirelessly to promote this new, modern sport, but there are not enough coaches, choreographers, assistants and referees. The cadet age category was the most overwhelming in the competition, which is logical because they start with majorettes sport.

The organization of the competition, including the decorations, was perfect, the VIP personalities, among them the Minister of Sports, greeted the competition personally. We invited the minister to the World Championship in Prague.

The International Federation Majorettes Sport has awarded two cups at the competition as a prize for the work so far and for future motivation to formations from the ProfiDreams Team club in Bishkek:

· baton classic cadet group
· mini baton cadet formation

We will see some formations at the World Championships, the representation is nominated by the Federation. It will be interesting to see the pioneers of majorettes sport from Kyrgyzstan compared to already experienced rivals.

Asian Federation of Majorettes Sport and Baton Twirling in Bishkek celebrated its 5th anniversary and we were honored to be there. In the future years, we wish the federation to keep up its set trends to have a large membership base of children and youth and enough coaches. If it’s in IFMS efforts, we’ll be happy to help.
